Collection of 360+ hymns, grey velvet cover, intricate silver-tone ermine-shaped cross clasp, silver-tone gilt on all edges, silver-tone metal frame around the front and back covers, beige-colored moiré silk endpapers, 475 pages. 

The Church of the Redemption (Église de la Rédemption) located at 16 rue Chauchat in the 9th arrondissement of Paris was the headquarters of the Lutheran Church of France during the 19th century. 

In 19th-century France, the vast majority of luxury velvet-bound prayer books were Catholic. French Protestant (Reformed and Lutheran) communities were much smaller and traditionally preferred simpler bindings. A silver-edged grey velvet edition specifically made for an Evangelical consistory is much scarcer than a Catholic equivalent.

Condition: Marks to front and back covers and spine, missing metal initials on front cover, some discoloration to velvet, slight warping to metal frame near front spine, but structure is solid. Overall condition is good.
