Pocket-sized prayer book with brown leather cover, cross design on the front and back covers, gold-tone metal frame, all page edges gold-gilt, gold-tone clasp closure featuring a small cross, engraving by J. Dopter, dried pressed flower between p. 62 and 63. 640 pages.

Antoine Maître was a specialized publisher who created high-quality personal missals, paroissiens, and prayer books specifically for provincial French dioceses. 

Jules Dopter (operating his workshop, Dopter & Cie, in Paris) was one of the most famous master lithographers and printmakers of the Victorian era. He specialized entirely in producing elite, highly detailed religious imagery (imagerie de piété).

Condition: Front endpaper missing, front of book block is detached from front cover board, back endpaper slightly ripped, some foxing throughout, some wear to spine corners, marks to back cover, metal frame slightly warped. Fair condition.
