Brown leather cover, all page edges a vibrant blue with gold-gilt fleur-de-lis gauffered design, gold dentelle detail around cover board edges and at interior cover borders, 4 raised bands on spine, marbled endpapers, frontspiece engraving by L. Mulo, inscribed with name M. Martineau. 471 pages.

Jean-Baptiste Bray and Victor Retaux specialized in high-level theological works, educational books for seminaries, and premium devotional books for youth. They were located in the heart of Paris's intellectual and religious printing quarter.
