1919 Petit Almanach | Mini Cartonnage Romantique

1919 Petit Almanach. Printed in France. Published 1918. French Language. 

A gem for cartonnage collectors, this Petite Almanac features a classic French "cartonnage romantique" (romantic pasteboard) style design, popular for decorative pocket books during the 19th and early 20th centuries. 

The central vignette features a courtly scene in Rococo style, depicting an elegantly dressed man and woman framed by a gold-gilt border of linework and florals. It's made out of black textured paper or a faux leather grain. 

In addition to the months of the year, there are seasons, holidays, and advertised prices for useful services (15 cent letters and 65 cent telegrams!).

Condition: Marks to front and back covers, binding thread partially exposed on spine, marginalia on most pages from previous owner. The binding is sturdy, and this would be an ideal decor piece on a book lover's shelf. Good to fair condition.
