Prize binding for Addiscombe College, located in West Brighton. The school's crest is gilt-stamped into the cover and features the school motto in Latin, "Scientia Sapientia Reverentia," which translates to "Knowledge, Wisdom, Reverence." This academic triad was highly intentional in late-Victorian and Edwardian education.
A light brown binding with 5 raised bands at the spine and intricate gold gilt tooling in the 6 separate spine panels. The front and back cover feature gold borderwork, all page edges are marbled, endpapers are marbled, dentelle work on turn-ins, black illustrations throughout.
