Paroissien Romain. Published by Antoine Maitre, Dijon, France. Published 1879. French Language.
This charming pocket-sized parishioner is a 19th-century Catholic liturgical prayer book and missal designed for laypersons to follow along with Sunday services and major feast days. This is the first cross-clasp I've seen in this petite size.
Full black leather binding with cross and line work on the front and back covers; a gold-toned metal frame on the front and back covers; a shield-like metal clasp with intricate etched designs; and all page edges gold-gilt. Handwritten inscription reads Marie Henriette Brisson.
70 mm W x 102mm H. 592 pages.
Condition: Some marks to cover and spine, wear to spine, metal clasp and frame are slightly bent but still functional, missing frontispiece, foxing throughout. Good condition.
