Alphonse de Monti de Rezé E. de Monti de Rezé
The De Monti de Reze family is an ancient, prominent house of the French nobility rooted in the history of the Brittany region. By 1669, they acquired the Lordship of Rezé and built Château de Rezé (a Louis XIII-style castle that still stands today as a historic monument). The family served as high-ranking financial advisors and even as Mayors of Nantes.

Alphonse was the brother of Isidore Marie Édouard de Monti de Rezé (the 7th Comte de Rezé), and they later became personal wartime aides for the exiled French crown prince (the Comte de Chambord) in Austria. When they finally returned to their estates near Nantes, they were celebrated as local symbols of unbending traditional Catholic nobility
