Paroissien Romain printed by Antoine Maître, Dijon, France. Publication c. late 1870s (Text carries a movable feast liturgical calendar spanning 1876–1895).

Chestnut brown cover with an embossed design of a Communion chalice and Eucharist with leaves, berries, and wheat, gold-tone metal frame around front and back cover boards, gold-tone intricate metal shield-like clasp, all pages gold gilt.

The interior includes two engravings. The frontispiece depicts Mary holding baby Jesus and has the phrase "Mère du Sauveur, Vierge puissante, montrez que vous êtes notre mère," which translates to "Mother of the Savior, powerful Virgin, show that you are our mother."

The second engraving depicts Jesus in a crown of thorns and includes the phrase "Il a été blessé pour nos iniquités, il a été brisé pour nos crimes," which translates to "He was wounded for our iniquities, he was bruised for our crimes," and comes from the Book of Isaiah (Isaiah 53:5).

The book includes its original bookseller's retail sticker on the inner flyleaf, which serves as a historical fingerprint of sorts, proving exactly where this book was purchased over a century ago. It was sold by H. Gaillard, who ran Librairie Classique & Fournitures de Bureaux in Town Hall Square in Troyes, a historic city in the Champagne region of northeastern France.
