Petit Paroissien printed by Ernest Cornillac, Châtillon-sur-Seine, France. Published in 1859. 

This is the smallest book in the June 2026 drop, but it is certainly one of our favorites. The amount of detail put into this mini is astounding and a true feat by the artists and bookbinders. 

The palm-sized prayer book features a dark brown leather cover with a repeating embossed ermine pattern. The spine has 4 raised bands and also carries the ermine motif. 

All page edges are colored red and gauffered with a repeating golden Maltese cross pattern. There are two intricate, dark silver-tone, gothic-style metal clasp closures. The interior includes brown moire silk endpapers with the initials B.G. stamped in gold on the inside front, gold dentelle broder tooling, and an engraving on the frontispiece depicting Jesus holding a sheaf of wheat with the Latin phrase "Ecce Homo," which translates as "Behold the man." 

The phrase comes from the Gospel of John (John 19:5) in the New Testament. According to the text, these are the exact words spoken by the Roman governor Pontius Pilate when he presented Jesus Christ to the crowd before his crucifixion.

Condition: Some wear to bottom corner of cover, bottom clasp on back cover is slightly bent but fully functional, some discoloration to endpapers, back endpaper is loose but attached. Good condition.
